aireal-123-10-2016Diamond Aircraft’s upgraded version of the DA42 Multi Purpose Platform (MPP) aerial survey aircraft was on display, for the first time in Africa, at the Africa Aerospace and Defence 2016 show held recently at Wonderboom Airport in Tshwane. The aircraft is based on the company’s popular and rather light HK36 MPX “Wescam Stealth” motorglider, and a desire for more performance, higher payload, more range and endurance, unrestricted certification and all weather capability led the company to develop the DA42 MPP.  Powered by quiet, smooth, low fuel consumption proprietary turbocharged jetfuel piston powerplants, the aerial survey aircraft delivers accurate results with excellent precision for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions, and geo-surveys. It has been designed for carrying multi-functional aerial sensors, like EO/IR cameras for surveillance and reconnaissance missions, land and sea radars, COMINT solutions, airborne laser scanners or large format digital aerial cameras. Mission kits can be mounted on the nose and under the belly of the aircraft as well as in the cabin and nose luggage compartments. At present, well over 100 systems are operating worldwide, providing intelligence and security.
