The Comtest Group, distributors of Fluke test and measurement equipment in southern Africa, recently held a series of gatherings for their dealers in Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg. Fluke is wholly owned by the Danaher group and represents 33% of their test and measurement portfolio. The group derives 26% of revenue from this sector in emerging markets. The company’s offices in more than 25 countries are staffed by over 3000 employees. Its sales and service subsidiaries are in place in 100 countries and the company has manufacturing facilities in Europe, China and the USA. It recently acquired Channel in India and South Korea. Fluke received 17 product awards for multimeters in the last two years; 21 for thermal imagers and 16 for clamp meters. The Comtest group has shown an overall growth of 9% against its 2010 results. Its strogest growth is said to have been in “hi-touch” products, e.g. thermography, process calibration and scopemeters.
