AutoCAD recently got its big batch of 2019 upgrades. Among the new set of updates were made the its Industry Collections, which combines Autodesk’s most powerful software in simple packages. Subscribing to a “collection” is a good way to get the most value out of company’s software because it connects the whole design-to-production workflow specific to each industry. Updates to the Architecture, Engineering and Construction Collection include improvements to the overall design environment with a completely re-written view management system that also allows customer to take advantage of multiple monitors. The company has improved working in 3D with full perspective editing, displaying levels in 3D, and has also introduced physically-based materials, all improving the architectural design process. Steel structural connection modelling has also been expanded, including support for custom connections, added rebar modelling for free form structures like bridges, and continued to improve mechanical fabrication modelling. The company has also optimised workflows like improvements to primary/secondary hydronic networks for modelling complicated piping networks. This latest release of InfraWorks offers enhancements in areas including parametric tunnel modelling, line girder analysis for steel girders, more dynamic integration with Revit, and enterprise work-sharing with BIM 360 document management.
