Rocketmine, a subsidiary of the international Delta Drone Group, has renewed its contract with South African mining giant, Exxaro Resources Group. The drone company will provide survey and mapping solutions to the Grootegeluk site in the Limpopo Province as part of the mining company’s plan to evolve towards the “digitised mine of the future”, where real-time mine planning and execution can be conducted to improve mining efficiency and production. One of the mine’s primary driving forces in optimising efficiency of their operations is to meet the demand requirements of the Medupi power station. The solution also aims to increase safety and data turnaround time. A second contract has Rocketmine taking to the skies in Namibia. The integration of drone technology at Rio Tinto’s Rössing Uranium Mine will enhance operational efficiencies pertaining to planning. Rocketmine secured two other contracts in West Africa. The company will provide Newcrest Mining Limited in Côte d’Ivoire and Newmont Akyem with mine blast monitoring and fragmentation analysis and survey mapping respectively.
