ECA(SA) hosts the Presidential Excellence Awards 2017

The electrical contracting industry honoured its top achievers at the ECA(SA)’s sixth annual Presidential Excellence Awards held at the Birchwood Hotel and OR Tambo Conference Centre, Ekurhuleni, on 16 November 2017.

Brand Engineering was the winner in the category Installation of the Year – Industrial, sponsored by Comtest, while Dan Electrical took the honours in the category Installation of the Year – Residential (Housing), sponsored by Voltex.

The winner in the category Installation of the Year – Residential (Complexes), sponsored by the Copper Development Association Africa, was Reliant Electric.

Besamandla won in the category Installation of the Year – Office Blocks, sponsored by Mufaro. The company also won in the category, Installation of the Year – Hotels and Hospitals, sponsored by Nestlife, bringing to four the number of awards garnered by Besamandla at the event.

Dan Electrical was the winner in the category Installation of the Year – Retail and Shopping, sponsored by Momentum.

The finalists in the category, Best Contributor to Energy Efficiency, sponsored by Schneider Electric, was Building Automation Systems. Schneider Electric also sponsored the category, Best Contributor to Renewable Energy, which was won by Besamandla, who also won in the category, Reticulation Contractor of the Year, sponsored by Novare.

HellermannTyton sponsored the category, Apprentice of the Year (Male), which was won by Machas Electrical’s Stephen Ramokgadi. The category, Apprentice of the Year (Female), sponsored by Brother, was won by Gugulethu Maseko from Edison Power. The Overall Apprentice of the Year category was also sponsored by HellermannTyton and the winner was Stephen Ramokgadi from Machas Electrical.

The winner in the Best Woman-owned Business of the Year, sponsored by the ECA(SA) magazine, SA Electrical Contractor, was Lumie Naidoo of Namasthethu Electrical.

Nestlife sponsored the National Safety Award and the winner was Edison Power Gauteng. The company also won in the category, Special Innovative Projects Award, sponsored by Major Tech.

The ECA’s Western Cape region, under the directorship of Pierre Foot, earned the ECA(SA) Regional Office of the Year Award, while Life Membership was conferred to SAW Johnson of Bloemfontein.

ECA national director Mark Mfikoe and national communications manager Erika van Zyl also launched the association’s new digital magazine, SA Electrical Contractor, during the event.
