    Whilst the efforts in bringing this criminal to book must be applauded, this is not even the tip of the iceberg. The majority of cases never get to court and apprehending the small thieves will not reduce the theft of copper cable.
    Asian countries rely on the import of copper which fuels copper theft in countries like South Africa and, unless we can control the export of copper scrap, the scourge will continue.
