High accuracy drone photogrammetry

Wingtra has launched the WingtraOne post-processed kinematics (PPK) UAV for large scale surveying and mapping applications. With the help of its partners, Pix4D and Septentrio – the UAV is now able to deliver orthomosaic maps and 3D models with an absolute accuracy down to 1 cm. The UAV combines vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) with PPK. VTOL combines multirotors and fixed-wings, allowing hands-free operation and a smoother ride for the on-board sensors. It retains the efficient flying in fixed-wing mode such as greater coverage than multirotor craft. The craft’s payload capacity makes it possible to integrate high quality sensors such as the Sony RX1RII and Septentrio PPK system. PPK computes precise geolocations for each image by combining the GNSS data with correction data from a nearby reference receiver. An RMS error of 1,3 cm horizontally and 2,3 cm vertically without any ground control points can save time on the field. After the aerial data collection, Pix4D post-processing software generates orthophotos and 3D models from the geotagged images.
