You are cordially invited to attend a one-day SABS Electro-Technical Sector Stakeholder Workshop and  Site Tour for 150 delegates, hosted by SABS in association with EE Publishers.

VENUE: St George’s Hotel and Conference Centre, Doornkloof, Pretoria (map here)
COST: No cost, free-of-charge

The workshop at St. George’s Hotel and Conference Centre will be followed by a tour of the SABS NETFA test facilities in Olifantsfontein. Bus transport will be provided to SABS NETFA.

The aim of the workshop is to establish a platform for collaboration between SABS and the electro-technical sector with specific focus on building capacity for testing to meet the needs of the electro-technical industry.

Internationally renowned engineer and researcher, Dr Andrew Eriksson, former director of the CSIR National Electrical Engineering Research Institute, NEERI, who was involved in the establishment of the high-voltage test facilities at NETFA in the 1980s, and is now based in Zurich, Switzerland, will make the opening keynote presentation.

EE Publishers is providing logistical support to SABS in terms of organising and publicising this important event to engage with the electro-technical sector in South Africa.

The programme is detailed below:

08h00 – 09h00: Registration and networking, with tea, coffee and confectionaries on arrival

09h00 – 09h30: Welcome and introduction by Garth Strachan, SABS Acting CEO

09h30 – 10h15: Keynote presentation by Dr Andrew Eriksson, consultant, Switzerland, with Q & A

10h15 – 11h15: Plenary session presentations:

Casbah Zwane, CEO of Transmission & Distribution, ACTOM

Ashley Bhugwandin, manager of the Technology Localisation Implementation Unit, CSIR

11h15 – 11h30: Tea

11h30 – 12h30: Panel discussion with SABS Representatives

12h30 – 13h00: Q&A

13h00 – 14h00: Three course buffet lunch

14h00 – 14h20: Travel by bus to SABS NETFA (10 minute drive)

14h20 – 15h30: Tour of SABS NETFA facilities

15h30 – 16h00: Travel by bus back to St George’s Hotel
