Local firm wins switchgear contract for diamond mine

jb_018-03-2014JB Switchgear Solutions recently won a contract for the design, manufacture and supply of low voltage switchgear equipment for the new Red Area Tailings treatment plant for Venetia Diamond mine in Limpopo province. The contract came through DRA, the well-known project house based in Sunninghill, Johannesburg. The entire plant is built as a modular construction which will be tested and cold-commissioned in Chamdor, south of Johannesburg, before being dismantled for transport to the mine, and re-erected on site. The project includes seven specially designed outdoor kiosks, one containerised MCC substation complete with fire suppression and internal arc venting ducts, 26 distribution boards, 41 field isolator stations, and a container-based control room.
