Online water monitoring platform undergoes update

GeoTerraImage has announced the latest update to the monthly water monitoring application Mzansi Amanzi. The up-to-date data and simple reporting service allows insight into surface water resources across South Africa. New features on this web application allow users to conveniently search locations based on catchment or dam names or use the built-in function of searching location by place name.  The availability of earth observation data coupled with the company’s algorithms produce the enhanced time series data display with the option of viewing historical surface water extents (since January 2016), the occurrence of water, and the classified surface water extents for the previous three months. The opacity of each data layer can be toggled to visualise the change of water across the layers and across different dates. The selected catchment’s surface water area is displayed according to the user’s specifications and provides a summary, which users are now able to download for further analysis. Users may gain access to the full detailed download on a subscription basis. Sample datasets of monthly water coverages from 2015 to date are available for evaluation upon request.
