The recent announcement by Mozambique’s’ vice-minister of mineral Resources, Abdul Razak that 12 new explorations would be offered brings a renewed focus on the large gas resource finds off the East coast of Africa. These finds could well become a game changer, not just in the region but in the global economy as well. Finding gas reserves is akin to winning the lottery.  But, as we have seen from bitter experience, the dream so often turns into a nightmare.
