The 2018 RICS Summit Africa is scheduled to take place on 30 and 31 May 2018 in Sandton under the theme “Driving sustainable growth through smart urbanisation”. This year the summit will focus on how Africa can build smarter and more sustainable cities to better deal with its high levels of urbanisation and global climate change. Now in its fourth year, the summit brings together speakers and professionals in the built environment from business, government, academia and the NGO sector.

More than 20 international and local speakers and panellists will take part in discussions. There also will be a panel discussion and break-away group sessions that will look at scalable and sustainable infrastructure solutions to the continent’s power deficit and focus on smart cities, funding Africa’s infrastructure pipeline and on delivering commercial real estate in Africa.

Mark Walley, RICS’ regional MD for EMEA, will present an update on the RICS Strategy in Sub-Saharan Africa. He will be followed by keynote speaker Stephen Ola Jagun, who will speak on embedding sustainable facilities management practices in African commercial real estate.
