Surge protection for data centres

There are two main types of risk in terms of data centres and electrical power surges: lightning strikes and switching surges caused by the switching of cooling systems’ inductive loads or possibly generators switching over from utility supply, and causes stemming from the power utility. Ideally, the most comprehensive surge protection solution would include all the interlinking systems of lightning and surge protection from the design stage. Aspects such as cable routing or embedding bonding conductors in concrete must be well coordinated from the beginning of the planning and construction phases.
