Peter M’Crystal of Teralink Networks is the winner of the EngineerIT best technical article for 2016 with his article “Fibre as the last mile of connectivity when implementing VoIP”. The article appeared in the July issue of EngineerIT. In recognition of his efforts, M’Crystal received a Canon Maxify MB5340 wireless printer, copier, scanner and fax, plus cloud link, sponsored by Canon.

The article discussed the implications for end users who are intending to switch from a legacy telephone system (businesses) or phones (residential) to voice over IP, in that they should be mindful of the fact that the critical success factor enabling reliable, high quality voice is the last mile connectivity; and why fibre is the technology of choice for converged networks.
