Addressing system wins innovation award

What3words recently collected two awards at the AppsAfrica Innovation Awards 2017 in Cape Town, both the Best Enterprise Solution award and the Disruptive Innovation award. There were over 300 entries for the awards, which celebrate the best in mobile and tech from across Africa, with the finalists judged by an independent panel of industry experts. Other winners included Kenyan emergency response startup Flare, who picked up the Best Social and Messaging Award, and Nigerian payments startup Flutterwave who took home the Fintech Award. This year’s winners will also be invited to exhibit at the Africa Tech Summit Kigali in February 2018, connecting with leaders in tech and investors from across Africa. What3words is an addressing system which divides the world into a grid of 3 x 3 m squares and assigned each one a unique three-word address, to provide a precise and simple way to talk about location. Better addressing enhances customer experience, delivers business efficiency, drives growth and supports the social and economic development of countries.
