Company hosts 36th data release

AfriGIS recently hosted its 36th Data Show at Bytes in Midrand and the Cape Sun in Cape Town. The celebration of 15 years in business proved why AfriGIS is the provider of choice for government, corporates and parastatals. The successful event underlined new exciting changes, innovations and additions to the company’s datasets in the May 2012 data release. Highlights of the release include more than 100 000 new addresses added to the National Address Database (NAD), with more than 9,2-million addresses in total, coverage of more than 1,8-million km of road in Africa, including 600 000 km of road in South Africa and more than 200 000 Points of Interest (POI) and 63 000 businesses. The data release now also contains a “Track Record”, indicating the growth per dataset. The data shows feature demonstrations of innovative products derived from the company’s datasets. The company’s Chief Business Officer, Brian Civin, highlighted the following AfriGIS solutions: a forms solution for an SABS solar inspection and administration system; the official Gautrain App; the AfriGIS Navigator, which is now available on iPhone and includes live traffic updates; and the Marbil Mobile Marketing and Campaign Management system which has reached 10-billion impressions
