On 25 November 2016, Jet Park-based low and medium-voltage assembly manufacturer Motor Control and Automation (MCA) hosted the first of its annual open days at its premises in Ekurhuleni. The day featured a factory tour and the company’s low and medium-voltage mobile assemblies were on exhibit.

The company designs, manufactures, tests and certifies modular metal or polycarbonate enclosures to international standards. Established in 1994, the company has garnered numerous industry awards and has been a member of the Electrical Switchgear Association of South Africa (ESASA) since 2009. Established in 1994, MCA provides local products and services that meet international standards in both medium and low-voltage assemblies. MD Grant Smith says the company contributes regularly to local technical and industry committees on compliance issues and specifications.

He says MCA complies with the ISO 9001, as well as with IEC 61439/2; 61641; 61641; 62271-200, and the OHS Act. The company also produces power distribution boards, variable speed drive enclosures, automation, mining, as well as specialised applications. Smith says the company’s employees are trained on an ongoing basis by means of the latest design techniques, software, manufacturing processes and quality control systems.
