Orbit GT released a major update of its software-as-a-service (SaaS) product, 3D Mapping Cloud, a powerful and versatile online platform for large 3D resources. The latest update includes a series of improved functionalities, enabling oblique imagery, UAV mapping, indoor and terrestrial scanning and street level mobile mapping multi-sensor content to be stored, organised, and shared in a flexible way. The update introduces Resource Groups, allowing the creation of a virtual resource based on a set of smaller units which can be shared. It also includes full point cloud colourisation to set out details better than before. Users can now also set unit preferences, manage basemaps for publication, and delete resources from the console. The new viewer is browser-based and includes a catalogue layout. Lastly, the service now supports multiple data centres, and any Azure data centre can be switched on upon request. With its customers using a mix of reality capture technologies, the company has worked to integrate its portfolio to offer a single product line.
