All-compatible single drives launched

abbOn 5 June 2014, ABB launched its ACS880 single drive at an event hosted at its Longmeadow Campus in Modderfontein, Johannesburg. These stand-alone drives can be customised to the precise needs of the customer to control a wide range of applications such as cranes, extruders, winches, winders, conveyors, mixers, compressors, pumps and fans. The series is built on an all-compatible drives architecture designed to provide compatibility, flexibility and ease of use. The drives feature a new, intuitive control panel and PC tool; enhanced direct torque control for precise open and closed loop control; built-in safety features; communication with all major automation networks; a removable memory unit and an energy optimiser for monitoring energy efficiency. The company’s all-compatible wall-mounted ACS880-01 single drives ship in nine frame sizes (R1 to R9) and include a wide range of standard features. Enclosure classes extend from IP20, IP21 to IP55 for dusty and wet environments. These drives are compatible with oil and gas, mining, metals, chemicals, cement, and power plant applications, to name a few. The ACS880 cabinet-built single drives are tailored to customer needs. These compact drives come in several sizes. Enclosure classes extend from IP22 as standard to IP42 and IP54 available as options.
