ECA Highveld Branch raises funds for charity

The ECA(SA) Highveld region held its annual charity golf day at the Benoni Lake Club golf course on 2 September 2016. The event raised substantial funds with 25 four-balls playing on the day and 14 sponsored holes. Added to this, the event hosted a “Beat the Pro” competition for the first time, which entailed players betting that they could drive a ball further than pro-golfer Tandi von Ruben.

A shotgun start at 10:30 meant that players had plenty of time to play, network and do business as they made their way around the course. Players were off the course in time for an entertainment surprise in the late afternoon, which featured Michael Scholtz, the “40-year-old-rookie” doing a trick shot show.

The prize giving was a success with prizes for up to 12th place sponsored by the ECA and many other supporters. The winning four-ball came from JDL Electric with an impressive score of 98. Second place went to Le Roux Bouttell and Associates, followed closely by Malaysian Switchgear and ARB Electrical tied for third.

The fun-filled golf day raised a total of R30 000 for the Iba-Umngani/Be a Friend Foundation. The money will go towards making comfort kits for victims of women and child abuse, and also towards the foundation’s newly-opened crèche.

The ECA would like to thank all the participants for making this day a success, with special mention of this years’ sponsors: ARB Electrical, Brother, Cable Mack, Cabstrut, Copper Development Association, Cummins, Diesel Electric Services, Eurolux, HellermanTyton, JDL Electric, Lapp Southern Africa, Radiant Lighting, Schneider Electric and Stone Stamcor.
