Golden Software, a developer scientific graphics software, has enhanced the visualisation capabilities in version 16 of its Surfer gridding, contouring and 3D surface mapping package. The software makes it easier for geologists, environmental consultants, and geospatial professionals to interpret complex scientific data. The software allows for robust 3D data visualisation and mapping, and enables users to model their datasets, apply an array of advanced analytics tools, and graphically communicate the results in ways anyone can understand. The primary improvements in Surfer 16 have been made in the colour mapping and Contour Map capabilities, including in the Equal Area Stretch and Contouring features which are used to create maps that vividly highlight data distribution. Three other important enhancements include True 3D Point Data for represent any 3D vector data in three dimensions; enhanced attribute management to calculate geometry and add those values to object attributes; and Kriging with External Drift which allows users to add a secondary dataset for use as a proxy in interpolating the primary dataset so as to yield better estimated values.
