EWSETA-accredited MV course to be presented at Meadowdale

The ECA(SA) will present a medium-voltage theoretical course over five days from 27 to 31 May at the association’s Meadowdale, Germiston offices for those who are interested in doing MV operations. Two days of the course will be off-site.

Applicants must have passed the Electrical Trade Test or have five years’ experience in the electrical industry for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) purposes.

This course is accredited with the EWSETA, Unit Standards 259204: Operate on medium voltage networks, NQF Level 4 with 20 credits, and candidates will receive a certificate after the assessment process.

Course content

The course will cover the following subjects:

  • Planning and preparation to operate on medium voltage networks.
  • Switch apparatus on MV networks.
  • Link and isolate apparatus on MV networks.
  • Safety testing and earthing of apparatus.
  • Restoring supply to MV networks.
  • Practice procedures.

A minimum of six people must be registered for this course for it to be held and seating is limited to 18 delegates. The classes are held from 08:00 to 16:00 daily.

The price of the course is R6500 for ECA members and R7000 for non-members, inclusive of VAT. The fee includes lunch, tea, coffee and refreshments.
