Floating power barge offers quick reliable electricity

Wärtsilä has combined two of its strengths, viz. power generation and marine technology, to create an integrated solution in the form of power barges. These barges can be easily relocated where needed and are therefore an ideal solution for power production on an interim basis as they can be connected to the grid to alleviate local power shortages wherever necessary. Floating power plants can also provide a rapid answer to increased power demand in advance of future land-based power plants. Floating power plants offer a number of advantages, including the quick supply of electricity to areas with limited infrastructure; they do not require a large site; they are independent of local conditions; and provide a secure power supply in the event of natural disasters such as earthquakes and floods. As a mobile asset, these can be moved for either relocation or trade.
