GIS-based engineering modelling

The GLS Version 6 utility software suite presents a new simplified approach to engineering modelling software, where the engineering model lives inside a standalone geographical information system (GIS). GIS can now be applied to the engineering model, allowing the modeller to harness GIS tools when creating and editing large datasets. The software simplifies the process of model building from a wide range of sources, including as-built drawings, CAD plans, GIS data sources, scanned images, schematic layouts, tabular spreadsheets or even hand drawings.

This has been done by minimising the number of repetitive tasks and providing access to user-customisable GIS-based themes. Online resources can be incorporated using web services, allowing the applications to display dynamic background maps and satellite imagery. This is in addition to support for large local raster imagery. An extensive SQL-based model reporting system is also provided. The suite currently includes the Albion stand-alone CAD/GIS package, as well as engineering modelling packages such as Wadiso, Sewsan, HydroSWMM, Edisan, Swift and PRP.
