Innovating Africa’s industries

Endress+Hauser South Africa hosted its Innovating Africa’s Industries (IAI) conference at Emperors Palace, Johannesburg. The event took place on 29 August 2019.

The IAI is an industry forum established by Endress+Hauser and other industry players to collaborate on addressing the challenges faced by the process automation industry by means of innovation and new technology. The conference received good support from industry and various companies (including Andritz; DRA Global; GEA; Krones; PSA Global; Rockwell Automation and WEC Projects) sponsored the event.

The conference addressed some of the challenges identified by the industry, including aspects such as rapidly changing industry trends, the role of IIoT and digitalisation, and access to real-time plant information.

The conference was presented in three concurrent industry segments, Food & Beverage, Water & Wastewater and Primaries & Metals. Some highlights on the agenda were smart mining with big data; digital transformation and the evolution of digital automation in the mining industry; digitalisation and smart cloud solutions in the food and beverage industry; biological wastewater treatment technology and preservation of water quality, among others. Interactive exhibition stands were also available for delegates to visit and see live demonstrations of the solutions discussed.
