Local company scoops large international contract

Schneider Electric has appointed RWW Engineering as its South African partner to build the new Pix Easy range of air-insulated switchgear. Schneider Electric’s association with RWW Engineering goes back to 2003 when the local company was selected to build its range of NEX switchgear.

The switchgear, which is designed for use in commercial, industrial and utility substations can handle up to 17,5 kV and up to 2500 A and has been tested for internal arc up to 31,5 kA for 3 sec. The unit features a floor-rolling vacuum circuit breaker in a small-footprint cabinet with advanced safety features including a special door locking system and exhaust venting design to assure operator s’ maximum protection from arc-flash incidents. RWW Engineering is currently building a large quantity of these units to fill an order for an electric utility in Ghana.
