Magno-inductive flow meter for heat exchangers

Ifm electronic’s SM Series Magmeter is designed to reliably detect the flow rate of conductive media up to 50 l/m in the SM7 series or even 100 l/m in the SM8 variant. The unit’s stainless steel, mechanically-robust design is mounted in-line providing a compact, low-profile installation for process control.

The sensor display includes a 4-digit numeric display with eight integrated LEDs which indicate the flow rate, total volume, and temperature of all conductive media. Simple push button programming quickly establishes application parameters and the flow meter can be set-up to provide a switching output, analogue output and pulsed output. The basic unit is calibrated in SI units. The sensor offers high accuracy with a response time of less than 0,15 s and a repeatability of ±0.2%. Electrical connection is made through an M12 connector. The principle of operation is based upon Faraday’s law of electromagnetic induction which detects the flow velocity of an electronically conducting fluid through a defined pipe diameter. Typical applications include flow and temperature monitoring through heat exchangers.
