Mine surveyors compete for IMSSA President’s Cup

The annual Institute of Mine Surveyors of South Africa (IMSSA) President’s Cup took place at the Eye of Africa Signature Golf Estate on 17 March 2017. The golf course, designed by professional golfer Greg Norman and home to the PGA Championship 2017 in February, tested players’ skills and patience with its extensive bunkers. Players played in four-ball teams according to the IPS scoring system.

JL Fourie won the cup with a score of 42, followed by N Bezuidenhout in second place with 39, while Chris Langeveld placed third with 38. Amanda Mojapelo won the best ladies player title with a score of 32.

Nearest to the pin prizes were also awarded. Tony Coyle took the nearest to the pin prize on hole 5; Tougeeb Adams on hole 9, Freddie de Bruin on hole 12, and Jan Grobler on hole 16. Stephan Kruger won the longest drive on the day. No one got a hole in hole-in-one.

The day was sponsored by Aciel Geomatics, Geosense, Optron, Southern Mapping, Esri South Africa, Afgen, 3D Laser Mapping, Bennett Mine Survey Assurance (BMSA) and Off Course Golf Promotions. Off Course Golf Promotions also held an auction after the day’s golf, auctioning off holidays and sport memorabilia and showpieces.
