gps-277-03-14-fig1GPS Log Book is a cost-effective and efficient electronic logbook which plugs into a vehicle’s cigarette lighter socket and records every trip using GPS and logging software. The mileage, usage and positioning data are then uploaded to a secure site via a computer, where each trip can be categorised and annotated. The result is quick, detailed SARS-compliant tax logbooks with comprehensive records of billable hours, which help individuals, business owners and small fleet managers to track, monitor and verify travelling costs, including e-toll fees. This allows users to claim a SARS refund on travel costs, and eliminates the unreliability of paper-based logbooks and the administrative burden of submitting travel claims. When choosing an electronic logbook, give preference to plug-and-play devices that install automatically online, come with a USB sync cable, and will auto-sync on plug-in. Choose one that is compatible with your computer’s operating system, and that comes with wireless installation that allows you to charge other devices while in use. An internal memory capacity of around 4 MB is recommended, along with the capability of online backup of data. Also ensure your chosen device can accommodate multiple vehicles and automatically logs the end of a trip.
