The World Geospatial Industry Council (WGIC) appointed a new president and treasurer for the 2019 – 2020 term at its AGM in April 2019. Ronald Bisio, senior vice president of Geospatial at Trimble, was elected as the new president, while John Renard from Cyient has been appointed as the new treasurer. Bisio supported WGIC activities since the council’s inception, particularly as chair of the policy development and advocacy committee. In addition to the topics currently on the agenda, he say he is interested in WGIC taking a leading role in educational outreach to help recruit students and prospective students into the industry, as well as to prepare those in the industry to be the future leaders of geospatial companies and the WGIC. Andrea Bersan (Digital Globe), Dr. Zaffar Sadiq Mohamed (Spatial Vision), Alexis Hannah Smith (IMGeospatial) and Christopher Malone (GroundTruth) were appointed to the executive board of WGIC. The council has also inducted 21 member organisations, which range from large corporations to small-medium and new generation start-up companies, who share the WGIC’s vision.
