Dassault Systèmes has joined the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) as a Principal Member. As a Principal Member, the company will participate across OGC activities and serve in the consortium’s Planning Committee to explore market and technology trends relevant to its mission to assure that OGC policies and procedures remain effective and agile in a changing technological environment. Principal members also participate in final approval decisions for all OGC standards and for nominations to the Board of Directors. Dassault Systèmes’s Ingeborg Rocker said that the OGC is an ideal community for championing the ideas and technologies that will shape the cities of the future. A sustainable future is only possible with the collaboration and participation of governments, research organisations, and enterprises with the technological expertise to bring ideas into reality. A cross-industry and domain approach is mandatory to guarantee the interoperability that present and future work- and lifestyle-solutions need. Dassault Systèmes will work with the OGC to help set the standards for this modern challenge. The company and consortium share similar visions about the value of location information to improve the ways we live and work, according to George Percivall, the OGC’s CTO and chief engineer.
