Microsoft recently added data-driven styling to Azure Maps. It is possible in part because Azure Maps’ rendering technology is built on open source the Mapbox GL JS library, and in fact uses more than 20 libraries built by the Mapbox team. It is another example of how Mapbox GL is at the core of providing a high quality map experiences on the web , and a great example of how the benefits of open source can spread beyond a single project. Anyone interested in using the GL JS features to unlock its power for their own projects can sign up for a Mapbox account and start building with the latest release of Mapbox GL JS and the full power of Mapbox Studio. Since 22 May 2019, Mapbox vector maps are also powering mapping and geographic visualisations in business intelligence software Tableau. Mapbox also recently introduced new pricing. Every Mapbox API and SDK is now available to developers on pay-as-you-go. The company further increased its free tier for almost every product and publicly published pricing for all services, including new volume discounts that automatically trigger as usage increases. It also removed commercial restrictions.
