CAT S60 launch 2016Ruggedised mobile phone manufacturer CAT Phones has launched its latest offering, the S60 with an integrated Flir thermal camera, to the South African market on 28 July 2016. The thermal camera integration brings several new applications to its industrial user base as well as to commercial consumers of high-end, high-spec phones. With its 80 x 60 pixel resolution, the thermal camera can capture images in a range between -20°C and 120°C within 3 to 5°C accuracy. Nine different colour palettes help emphasise specific thermal characteristics and ranges in a clear manner, while three spot points can be added via touch for detailed measurements. An area of interest also be selected and tracked dynamically on the 12 cm Corning Gorilla Glass 4 display. The captured images can be overlaid to different degrees of transparency with images automatically captured simultaneously with the built-in 13 MP camera, with all images geotagged. Thermal video capture at nine frames per second is also possible. The phone is 5 m waterproof up to one hour, drop proof to 1,8 m, and features a 3800 mAh battery, and IP68 certified rating.
