Oracle Java ME embedded for new wireless module

SIMCom, represented locally by Otto Wireless Solutions, has announced it will integrate Oracle Java ME Embedded into its latest wireless module, the SIMCom SIM800. This will enable customers to simplify the development process, help shorten product time to market, help manage costs and increase application stability for embedded devices. SIM800 is a quad band GSM/GPRS module in a SMT package, sized 24 x 24 x 3 mm, it can fit into slim and compact customer designs. Featuring both Bluetooth and Embedded AT, it allows total cost savings and fast time to market for customer applications. Built on an optimised implementation of the Java Platform, Micro-Edition (Java ME), Oracle Java ME Embedded is designed to meet the needs of intelligent and connected services on resource constrained devices, such as those found in wireless modules, building and industrial controllers, smart meters, tracking systems, environmental monitors, telehealth, home automation devices and vending machines.
