28east-327-03-14Bell Equipment, the first OEM to design and implement its own fleet monitoring system, has fine-tuned and upgraded their system to offer real-time tracking. To do this, they supplement satellite coverage with GPRS monitoring. The company also engaged customers to understand their needs, after which they introduced a user-friendlier interface to deal with large amounts of data. A new-look website is integral to the improved user friendliness and will be launched in English, German and French, with Russian and Spanish following soon. Older versions of software required Java or Citrix environment configuration, while the new website utilises Google Maps technology, and offers a multi-platform browser-based solution. Customers will also be able to filter and group live data for easier consumption. After signing in to the Fleetmatic website a Google Map provides an overview or “dashboard” of all the machines in the fleet, also indicating the location of nearby Bell Customer Service Centres. Included on this dashboard are the machine’s hours, location, ignition status, next service interval, and the most recent key production parameters.
