The March 2014 meeting of the the Vaal branch was fortunate to have their technology evening sponsored by WIKA Instruments and  Ralf Hesse, GM for WIKA give a presentation on multipoint thermocouple systems and furnace tube-skin measurement.

Maurilio Correia (WIKA Technical Assistant), Ralf Hesse (Wika General Manager), Eben Grobbelaar (SAIMC Vaal Chairman).

In 2012 the WIKA group acquired Gayesco, specialists in the field of reactor and skin-point temperature measurement. The Gayesco systems are specifically developed for chemical and petrochemical customers.  The  presentation covered skin-temperature measurement of boiler tubes in furnaces with the intent of extending tube life and preventing potentially catastrophic failures.  The solutions discussed  were very impressive and showed commitment to engineering out of long standing reliability problems in the specific industry.  We thank WIKA for sharing this information with us. The Vaal Branch technology evenings are usually held on the first Thursday of the month at the Iscor Bowling club in Vanderbijlpark.  Any person or  company  interested in participating as a visitor or technology speaker please contact Dirk van der Walt at dirk.vanderwalt@proconics.co.za
