eaton-063-03-2014-smart-trip-blocksEaton has added the PKE-XTU CP trip block to its PKE electronic motor protective circuit-breakers. The user can now instantly convert an existing PKE basic unit into an IEC 60947-2 circuit-breaker for protecting cables and lines. When used in conjunction with the SmartWire-DT module, the device also enables switch or end-user data to be read out and monitored to optimise plant availability and energy consumption with ease. The modular system essentially consists of the PKE basic device and a tool-less, pluggable trip block to simplify retrospective changes to the switch. It offers high flexibility and therefore saves time and cost as no complete switch exchange is needed. The concept also allows optimised stock-keeping. Eaton offers the new trip blocks in standard and extended variants. The extended models allow the PKE circuit breaker to be connected to the SmartWire-DT connection system by means of the PKE-SWD-CP function.
