HellermannTyton unveiled two patented products at the annual Solar Show Africa 2018, on 27 an 28 March. Building its own string combiner boxes inspired the company’s engineering team to design the Din Rail Spacer, pictured here, for safe and effective general wiring. The Din Rail Spacer fits perfectly to the bottom of the din rail to raise the rail for easier wiring. The unique star design allows the screw to earth both the din rail and the back plate. Cable management solutions are a part of the DNA of HellermannTyton, which is always on the lookout for improved, cost-effective ways to fasten, fix, install, connect, insulate, protect and identify electrical cables. The second product unveiled at the show is the Rail Cradle for cable ties. This handy device clips around the solid side to each lip of a Unistrut. A built-in cable tie mount ensures that the cable ties can be inserted in multiple directions running along the Unistrut. During the exhibition, the company presented on its “concept-to-completion” abilities, which include tool design to the manufacturing of products for renewable energy, as well as on safe installation, from protection to using the right tools and ensuring that the system is safe. Also on display were selected installation tools and test & measurement equipment for photovoltaic use. These included the company’s local range of string combiner boxes (SCBs). The company is experienced in SCB design and manufacture for a number of applications, from embedded rooftop applications to large, utility-scale PV plants. It designs, manufactures and delivers up to 600 bespoke SCBs with full string monitoring functionality. HellermannTyton will design and manufacture SCBs to clients’ requirements, in line with international standards and using approved components from local and international suppliers. Its facilities are ISO TS16949 quality management and ISO 14001 environmental management compliant.
