Taking the pulse of your measurement

Information from Endress+Hauser

Instruments with their own pulse beat – that describes the concept of Heartbeat Technology for maximum safety and the highest possible availability. The technology equips instruments with a comprehensive diagnostics and verification concept and also facilitates predictive maintenance. Costs for the provision of evidence for functional efficiency or SIL tests are thus reduced. Endress+Hauser […]

Rethinking maintenance procedures using IR thermometers

Information from Instrotech

Non-contact temperature monitoring is an essential tool for ensuring the safety and reliability of equipment.  As alternative solutions to portable thermal imagers, both portable and fixed infrared thermometers are gaining importance in preventive maintenance applications, the latter for example in OEM solutions and for the infrared monitoring of large plants with a multitude of […]

Using radar sensors to measure liquid level through sight glasses

Information from Vega Controls

Sight glasses on vessels are as familiar to process automation as party posters are to election season. Vessels with sight glasses permit users to measure liquid level in a unique way: by mounting a radar sensor above the glass. Radar instruments emit microwaves that penetrate the glass, reach the product inside, and reflect through […]

Implementing a thermography maintenance program with Fluke Series Ti

Information from Fluke Connect

In the past, establishing a preventive maintenance program has required a lot of tedious work and often just doesn’t work the way it should. The goal of a successful program is to have easy access to historical data for each piece of critical equipment, so measurement trends can be monitored and maintenance downtime planned […]

The world connects here: Building Africa’s biggest data centre

Information from Teraco Data Environments

Two years ago, Africa’s data centre industry was said to be lagging behind its international counterparts with many facilities experiencing latency, power and infrastructure issues. Experts were convinced Africa needed another five years before the industry would show improvement and growth. South Africa has proven them wrong with not only its data centre expansion […]

Certainty in a connected world

Information from Schneider Electric

Energy is vital to modern economies. Now, more than any time in the past, demand for energy is at its peak, driven by urbanisation, digitisation and industrialisation. The forecasts are staggering. By 2050 and additional 2,5-billion will be living in cities, 50-billion connected things by 2020  and a 50% increase in energy consumption by […]

Moxa releases solution architecture to tap into the potential of the Industrial IoT

As the Industrial Internet of Things (IoT) connects our world faster than ever, we rely more than ever on network infrastructures. The partnership between RJ Connect and Moxa has a proven track record of providing customers with the most reliable networks for a variety of industrial applications. Industrial computing The Internet of Things (IoT) […]

Machine diagnostics and predictive maintenance for Industry 4.0 and IoT

Information from Beckhoff Automation

Implementation of Industry 4.0 and the internet of things (IoT) concepts comes with a wide range of requirements, particularly for machine diagnostics, including online and offline condition analysis, predictive maintenance, pattern recognition, machine optimisation or long- term data archival. As a result, seamless and cycle-synchronous data acquisition becomes a prerequisite for effective analysis and […]

Combine with a Fluke calibrator for a total HART calibration solution

Information from Comtest

In today’s process plants, most new field instruments are smart digital instruments. Smart implies a microprocessor-based instrument with extra functionality and digital compensation, supporting multiple sensor types or multiple variables. These instruments generally offer better accuracy, long-term stability, and reliability than conventional analogue instruments. The most common class of smart instruments incorporates the HART […]

Q4X laser distance sensor

Information from RET Automation

Featuring superior, versatile sensing performance, the Q4X reliably detects distance changes as small as 0,5 mm and covers a 25 to 300 mm range across multiple target colours, materials and surfaces. With the ability to detect the presence/absence of a target or an object’s orientation, the Q4X solves a variety of sensing applications.  The […]

COVID-19 CORONA VIRUS
SOUTH AFRICAN RESOURCE PORTAL

What is COVID-19?
On 31 December 2019, the World Health Organization (WHO) reported a cluster of pneumonia cases in Wuhan City, China.
‘Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2’ (SARS-CoV-2) was confirmed as the causative agent of what we now know as ‘Coronavirus Disease 2019’ (COVID-19).
Since then, the virus has spread to more than 100 countries, including South Africa.
